Closet Confidential: Fall Updates

Fall gives me a new lease on life. I instantly feel the more inspired, rejuvenated, and festive at the slightest hint of cooler temperatures. I'm most looking forward to wearing chunky knits, leggings, and boots everyday like a basic b****.  But this year, instead of purchasing an entirely new wardrobe, I'm vowing to make smart investments in a few staple pieces to transition my look from summer to fall.

Style Notes: plush velvet, rosy hues, subtle lace, romantic ruffles

I'm usually not a lace or velvet type of girl, but I'm going to give these trends a spin this season. I'm sticking to my guns with denim and light jackets that will be easy to layer when the cooler weather really sets in. What pieces are you adding to your wardrobe this fall? Satin duster coats? Thigh high boots? Let a sista know in the comments below! Seriously, I have FOMO (fear of missing out), so don't spare any details.

Short Dress-Strolling in December

Winter is here, but this balmy 65 degree weather says otherwise. Hence the bare legs. I'm shamelessly taking advantage of this warm December weather while it lasts. This fit and flare dress is the epitome of comfort so I wear it every chance I get, and lately I've been wearing this leather jacket with everything. I reached for my favorite pair of every day black booties to complete the look. They add a little extra height to the look without sacrificing comfort.I could never get away with wearing this when I lived Newark, so I'm hyped to get to wear short dresses with no leggings or tights as I love showing off my legs for no reason!! (lol!) So far, I'm really enjoying strolling around east Atlanta neighborhoods and the warm winter vibes.

ATL Happenings: Castleberry Hill Art Stroll

If you haven't discovered the arts district in Castleberry Hill...where the hell have you been? From peters to chapel ave., there is a hidden treasure trove of art galleries/lofts to explore. Every second Friday is the officially designated time of the Castleberry Hill art stroll. There's a little section of art lofts in the cut that I like to call art row-- it basically consists of three or four galleries in that are literally next door to each other-- each with stunning works of art. There's abstract pieces, sculptures, photography--truly something for everyone. Not to mention there are a number of boutiques, bars, and barbers in the area so there is lots more to explore!

Holiday Party Looks: Little Red Dress Edition

Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of red. BUT, it is the holiday season, and I almost feel pressured to wear something, anything red. I have to say, the dresses I picked below are making a very strong case for the color, and they're perfect for holiday office parties, outings with friends, or for eating Christmas dinner with family. My personal favorite is the v-neck velvet skater dress. I can imagine it paired with a nice winter coat, semi-sheer black tights, and a pair of platform heels. But choose any of these dresses below, and you'll be cute and comfy on Christmas.
